Remedial massage can be defined as "manual soft tissue manipulation", which uses specialised techniques such as deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, stretching/strengthening for treatment of injury, pain, discomfort and soft tissue dysfunction.

Sports massage is beneficial for pre and post training and sporting events using specialized techniques that include myofascial release. trigger point therapy, frictions with stretching and strengthening to assist the body with recovery, recuperation and maintenance for events and competitions.
